The first time you see a bidet you’ll probably be caught off guard. For a long time bidets were only really popular in European countries but they’re popular worldwide now. So what is a bidet? Invented around the 1700s a bidet was designed to help you freshen up without having to have a full bath. It’s most often used to rinse yourself after using the toilet – the theory being it really is more hygenic than using toilet paper. Though a lot of people do use bidets as a kind of foot bath too.
