The use of false number plates in vehicle crime and crimes involving the use of vehicles such as fuel theft or bank raids seems to be on the increase. This is no doubt due to the increase in number of cctv cameras. After every crime the police look for footage from the various cameras which are around the crime scene. Stole plates thwarts this evidence entirely.
