One thing I have never understood is why only the instrument panel tends to be lit at night. To see other things such as the gear stick, I have to turn on the bright, white, interior light. It seems that the makers of the Ford Mondeo also didn’t understand why this was so, because they’ve come up with a handy little solution.
The central consol area around the gear stick is lit with a subtle orange glow, aiding visibility on those dark nights. Less harsh than the main interior light, this gives just enough visibility for the driver to see everything of importance in the front of the car, without blinding them. Although only a small feature, it’s definitely a useful one, proving that the designers of the Ford Mondeo have thought of everything.
